Emergency Treatment
Emergency Crowns in West Jordan
When a tooth is broken or decayed beyond a filling, a crown restores the whole tooth, often the same day, so your child can chew and smile comfortably again.
Restores the whole tooth
A durable cap rebuilds what a filling alone can't hold.
Often same-day
When possible, we assess and restore the tooth in one visit.
Gentle and calm
Thorough numbing and sedation options keep it easy.
When a Crown Is Needed Urgently
A badly broken tooth or a large cavity can leave too little healthy structure for a simple filling. A crown caps and protects the whole tooth, relieving pain and preventing further damage.
What Happens at the Visit
Calmer and quicker than most families expect.
- 1
Numb and assess
We numb the area and check how deep the damage goes.
- 2
Prepare the tooth
The broken or decayed portion is gently cleared away.
- 3
Place the crown
A durable pediatric crown is fitted and secured.
- 4
Check the bite
We make sure it feels natural before your child heads home.
Why Save the Tooth Instead of Pulling It?
A crown lets a damaged baby tooth do its job until it falls out naturally, keeping your child's bite intact and holding space for the adult tooth underneath. Removing a tooth early can let neighbors drift and complicate things later, so we save the tooth whenever we can. If the nerve is affected, we may pair the crown with pulp therapy.
Who Needs One, and When
Children with a large break, a deep cavity, or a tooth already treated with pulp therapy are the usual candidates. If your child's tooth just broke, save any pieces in milk, call us, and we'll tell you how soon to come in. Painful or deep breaks are seen the same day.
Even a badly broken tooth can usually be saved. One visit, one crown, and the smile is whole again.

Common Questions About Emergency Crowns
Why not just pull a badly broken baby tooth?
Saving the tooth with a crown keeps your child's bite intact and holds space for the adult tooth. We remove a tooth only when it truly cannot be saved.
Can a crown be placed the same day?
In many cases, yes. We will assess the tooth and, when possible, restore it in one visit to relieve pain and protect it.
Will the crown be comfortable?
Yes. We shape and check the bite before you leave, and most kids adjust to a new crown within a day.
